Dino Hunt/Movie Party

I had the pleasure of helping one of my dearest friend
with her son's birthday party this month. After talking with her on his interests and likes, Nerf guns and movies, we decided on a dinosaur themed party that we could incorporate both! Once we had the theme I knew the perfect set of printables to use from the wonderful Etsy shop Amandas Parties To Go! When it comes to party planning Amanda has thought of everything, seriously! The wide variety of themes comes with everything you could possibly think
of for you event! Check it out...
We placed a welcome sign outside her house and the guests followed the dino prints into the backyard for the party.
How cute are these footprints!?!
In the backyard we had set up some tables for a light lunch.
For the centerpiece we used the party circles hot glued onto some skewers and positioned in a large jar of chocolate rocks.
I created a cluster of tissue poms, honeycomb balls, and paper lanterns to hang over the table for a little extra color.
For the place settings we used these adorable place mats which were the perfect activity to do while munching away on some food!
For lunch we served little Carnivore sandwiches, individual deli style Herbivore salads, and packages of Snackivore chips.
After lunch the kids all headed to the little field area behind the house for a little Dino Hunt... aka:Nerf gun War!
Using Amanda's dinosaur designs as a template we cut out larger versions from refrigerator boxes and spray painted them matching colors for the kids to hide behind or use as shields.
We placed the dinosaurs all over the field and in some bushes and shrubs to make it more fun. This was probably one of my most favorite elements of the party, and coincidentally
one of the cheapest too!
It was so fun to watch the boys rolling around and hiding behind the dinos! I loved it... and so did they! After a little over an hour we finally had to call them in for the next part of the party but they honestly could have gone on for another hour if not longer!
So anyway after the Nerf gun war the guests headed downstairs to my friends movie theater room for some more treats and to watch the new dvd release of Jurassic World.
We had a fun assortment of dino desserts for the boys to
snack on during the movie!

Chocolate ice cream with chunks of white chocolate bones inside. We picked up some little fossil kits from the dollar store and used the tools from those for the utensils.
How amazing are these cookies!?! I can't get over how cute they are!
Yes, those are REAL INSECTS inside some amber colored toffee bars! I got the idea for these from the first Jurassic Park movie where they take the DNA for the dinosaurs from inside mosquitoes fossilized in amber. I was beyond exstatic when I found these online from Hotlix. And the boys were hilarious with these... they kept daring each other to take a bite!

All kicked back and ready for the show!

And last but not least when the party was over we sent home jumbo sized jawbreakers for party favors...

Thanks for checking out our Dino Hunt/Movie party! I hope it inspires your own celebration, and be sure to check out Amanda's Parties To Go for all their wide varieties of printable party packages! It really makes party planning so much easier and gives it that complete and finished look that will amaze all your guests!
