Dr. Suess Baby Shower

Last year I had the pleasure of throwing a baby shower for my sister and just she gave me free rein and I just love it when they just let me do whatever I want! So I googled some ideas and found this idea from Kara's Party Ideas and just fell in love. I found all the books and matching stuffed animals on Ebay and I got the vinyl quotes on Amazon. The rest of the decor and supplies form various other websites Suessland and Really Good Stuff.

Here are the invitations I made:

I decorated the front door

And when you opened the door, there was the Cat to great you

I used the books and animals as the main decorations

Sneetches

Horton Hears a Who

Picture of the ultrasound with the quote "A person's a person no matter how small" and little warm fuzz's on the table.

Oh, the Places You'll Go!

Found these lollipops at a bake shop and they matched perfectly! I made labels for the middle and tied them with a bow

Dr. Seuss's ABC's

My friend Gina makes THE BEST cookies ever! So I had her make some for the shower to go with the book. They were seriously SO good, you can't eat just one! You have to pop over and check out her website Lil G's Cookies, so yummy!

Cat In The Hat table

Cat In The Hat diaper cake

My first diaper cake I made, so super easy! 125 diapers with a Cat In The Hat baby toy on top.

Thing 1 & Thing 2 cupcake tower

Red Velvet cupcakes with cream cheese icing and blue cotton candy.

But beware, once you put the cotton candy on, the moisture from the frosting starts to melt the cotton candy, and after about an hour to an hour and a half they look like this...

Vinyl quotes from some books that I put on the walls.

Changed the word "funny" to "baby" since it was a baby shower

I also got a Dr. Seuss cook book with lots of recipes inspired from his books. Some of the recipes were a bit more elaborate, so I improvised and simplified them but used the same name. I put the book, animal, and a little quote from the book by each dish.

Schlopp with a Cherry on top

Yogurt Parfaits

Bar-ba-loots' Truffula Fruits

Fruit Tray

Kartoom Croquettes

Chicken Salad Sandwiches

Poodles with Noodles

Pasta Salad

Green Eggs & Ham

Deviled Eggs (dyed green) and Ham

Pink Yink Ink Drink

Strawberry Lemonade

We played guess how many fish are in the dish, and the winner got all the Swedish fish.

We also played some other games, Dr Seuss's Baby ABC's (had to name as many baby things that started with each letter of the alphabet), Dr Seuss's Baby Scramble (baby words scrambled up), and then we played a game were everyone had a folded up diaper (one had melted chocolate in it though) and they all passed the diapers right and left as I read a story. I tried to make the story all suessy by rhyming and stuff and then at the end everyone opened their diapers. The one with the messy diaper got a prize. For the prizes I went to Target and they had a bunch of Dr Seuss stuff for just a buck! So I got some tote bags and put a book and some other little seuss things in them.

The party favors were these little mini books with a matching pen tied in little cellophane bags with a tag.

The little note books were so adorable, I had to take pictures of them...

My sister was a bum and wouldn't let me take a picture of her wearing the cat hat, boo! But it was alot of fun and I hope she had a good time. Congrats Dez!

    3. Thank you so much! I found pretty much all the animals on ebay. Most were in practically new condition, only a few that had been loved a bit much. I also got the books from there. I found a vendor, don't remember who, that sells books NEW for extremely cheap. I hope that helps any bit and please let me know if you have any other questions or if I can help in any other way :)
